Team Xecuter have finally unveiled their first Nintendo Switch "modchip" - the first in a "SX" range of products.

The video shows off a dongle that connects to the Switch's USB type-C port and an accompanying device that attaches to the Switch's right-hand side Joycon rail. The Switch is then booted into a Team Xecuter custom firmware that shows the Switch running commercial backups and the ability to switch games in real-time.

This is the first in a line of "SX" products from Team Xecuter and promises full compatibility with Switch's from all regions and all firmwares.
Pre-orders for the device are to open this week, with more details to follow.

Good news, from the video we can know that. If you are interested, you can pre-order from its seller like 3DS-flashcard site.

So in summary:

  • The exploit works on any firmware from any region.
  • The same 'jighack' device is needed to start the hack as we've seen before.
  • The exploit payload is delivered via a USB-C dongle.
  • These hardware exploits must be used every time the console is hard booted but both are removable after the initial boot.
  • The dongle has another USB-C passthrough - for charging/updating possibly? Not sure about this.
  • There are three options displayed on the screen upon booting the device with the hack:

Boot Custom FW

Boot Original FW

Update

  • The custom FW has the ability to fool the console into thinking any game is inserted into the cartridge slot.
  • No word if this applies to e-shop only games, as the video only shows games with a physical release being tested:

* Superbeat: Xonic * Island Flight Simulator * Batman Telltale Series * Skyrim

  • The custom FW presumably allows for loading games off of the SD card
  • No mention of what format these games must be in to be loaded

  • Thanks 1
